Customers staying at a Hyatt hotel between Aug. 13 and Dec. 8, 2015, may have had their personal information compromised. Hyatt says that customer payment information was breached at a number of its hotels worldwide, but the compromise appears to be primarily at hotel restaurants while a small percentage were breached at a spa, golf course, parking, or front desk.
No Hyatts appear to be breached in Alabama, while Hyatt Regency’s in Bonita Springs, Clearwater, Coral Gables, Jacksonville, Key West, Orlando, and Sarasota may have been compromised. The Grand Hyatt in Tampa may also have been compromised. Hyatt believes it was malware that was designed to collect payment information caused the breach.
Hyatt has more information about the breach on its website. The hotel chain believes it has fixed the breach but asks customers and financial institutions to continue to monitor accounts.
