The political blog, Florida Politics, recently posted a story on its takeaways from the 2016 Florida Legislative Session. It’s basically a look at the winners and losers from the session. Credit unions were given a big shout out as a winner for the passage of HB 1233, the Federal Home Loan Banks bill. This is certainly nice recognition for credit unions and their members.

The blog wrote, “Credit unions – HB 1233 was a big win for credit unions, giving chartered credit unions in the state access to the Federal Home Loan Bank of Atlanta’s secondary market mortgage program. They have been barred from entering this program, putting them at a disadvantage to federally chartered CUs and banks.”

To be listed as a winner is another testament to the good year that credit unions and the League’s advocacy team had in 2016. Read a full list of the winners and losers on the blog.
